Prague Philharmonia

The Prague Philharmonia was founded in 1994 on the initiative of conductor Jiří Bělohlávek under the name Pražská komorní filharmonie. Today it is one of the most respected orchestras not only in the Czech Republic but also worldwide, which is confirmed by regular international tours and recording projects for the world's most renowned labels. The role of the founder was taken over from Jiří Bělohlávek by Mr Robert Schönfeld, who also holds the position of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board and occasionally helped the orchestra as a student of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague as a first violinist. Since the beginning of the 2015-16 season, Emmanuel Villaume has been its Music Director and Chief Conductor. During his career, French conductor Emmanuel Villaume has conducted performances with the most prominent opera companies and symphony orchestras from around the world. He currently serves as Music Director of Opera Dallas and is a regular guest artist at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London.
